About Ghee
Ghee or clarified butter is what in Ayurveda is known as rasāyana. In early Ayurvedic medicine, rasāyana is the practice of techniques for lengthening lifespans and invigorating the body. Ghee is said to improve intelligence, memory, digestion, strength, immunity and longevity. Ghee pacifies Vata and Pitta maximally while in small quantities it is also beneficial for Kapha. It increases Agni (digestive fire) and keeps the body lubricated. Ghee can be safely used internally and externally. If you suffer from excessive dryness of hands and feet apply Ghee daily. Ghee removes toxins, stops emaciation and it is said to be very auspicious. That is why in Vedic rituals it is offered to the fire as an oblation. More than one year old Ghee(Purana Ghee) is medicine and it is tridosha pacifying. It decreases inflammation and reduces risk of cancer. Adding ghee to the daily diet of women, especially those who are pregnant, it is said to fortify the bones and the immune system. It’s high smoke point (482 F) makes it great for cooking as well. Better to use organic Ghee or at least made from grass-fed cow milk. Finally, if you are lactose intolerant Ghee is definetely for you.
